As you start this New Year, most likely you’re hoping that 2014 is your best year ever. You’d like more happiness, more success, more love than ever before—of course you do; it’s human nature. Perhaps you’re even hoping for some miracles.

But maybe you’ve felt somewhat thwarted in your past intentions to make your new year’s dreams come true. You’ve used the right “Law of Attraction” principles; you’ve put attention on the good you want to manifest; you give gratitude for what you have; yet you still feel blocked.

Well, there are a number of possible reasons, but one is that there may be too many people around you whose thoughts aren’t supporting your success and happiness.

While I believe that everyone is truly doing the best they can given their own life’s circumstances, I also believe that people may be unconsciously holding you back.

So ask yourself: “Are there people in my life who are creating a field of resistance that might be blocking me? Are there people who, for one reason or another, might not want me to succeed or be happier?”

My dear friend and business partner, Debra Poneman, recently shared a powerful experience she had in the ER that made me ponder this question more deeply:

Can other people’s thoughts really have an effect on our happiness, success, and miracles?

Here is her story in her own words…

“I thought I had the flu, but usually my flus only last twenty-four hours since I knock them right out with my cache of Echinacea, golden seal, and vitamin C. But although I executed my usual routine, as the days passed, I realized that this one was not going away so quickly, and after about four days, I was sicker than I ever remember being. In fact, by the fifth day when I called my local energy healer, he advised me to call 911 immediately.

“When the paramedics arrived and asked what hospital I wanted to go to and I told them, they commiserated and decided that I might not survive the nine-minute ride and were going to take me to the hospital three minutes away. My blood pressure at that point was 67/28, and it turned out I had two types of deadly bacteria in my blood.

“When I arrived in the ER, I started to lose consciousness. I guess I had what might be termed a near death experience, but I didn’t go through any dark tunnel or see a being of light. I just noticed that when my eyes were open, I could see what was going on in the room, and when my eyes were closed, I could also see what was going on but everything was moving light. I saw how this moving light orchestrated everything and how there was no such thing as a mistake. There was only perfection.

“Then I noticed the power of people’s words and thoughts. I could feel the thoughts of the people who figured I was going to die and it was just ‘another day in the emergency room’ and those of the people who really wanted me to live.

“And then the most amazing thing happened. One of the nurses went over to my husband, put her hand on his shoulder, and said, ‘Don’t worry. She’s going to be fine.’ And as the words came out of her mouth, I saw this sparkling pink energy, and it went from her mouth into my body and made me stronger. Then, a few moments later, the doctor came in, looked at the monitors, and in a very tense and urgent voice said, ‘Get that blood pressure up, or we’re going to lose her,’ and I saw the gray energy of his words enter my physiology and weaken me.

“So here I am, clinging to life by a thread, and I have the clear realization that if everybody in the room would have just turned to me and said or thought, ‘She’s going to be fine,’ I could have gotten up off the gurney and headed to the gym for a work out.”

Actually, the validity of my friend’s experience has a lot of scientific evidence to support it. If you saw the movie What the Bleep?!, you’d know that there’s ample scientific evidence proving that matter and reality are affected by our thoughts and words.

In fact, a few years ago, bestselling author Lynne McTaggart began a global movement called The Intention Experiment. The Intention Experiment is a series of scientifically controlled experiments testing the power of intention to actually change the physical world. Thousands of volunteers from thirty countries have participated with astonishing results—all of which have been verified by leading researchers, including physicists and psychologists at Princeton, Cambridge, The International Institute of Biophysics, and The Institute of Noetic Sciences.

In her pilot experiment, Lynn asked a group of people based in London to direct their thoughts to four remote targets in a laboratory in Germany. The targets were two types of algae, one plant, and one human volunteer.

The people in London were asked to attempt to lower certain measurable biological processes in the four targets. The result? The doctors at the German lab found significant changes in all four targets—that means the people in London, through their intentions, created changes in the algae, the plant, and even the human volunteer in Germany!

And now, Lynne has gone on to experiment with groups of people putting their attention on each other’s success, happiness, and physical and emotional healing through what she calls The Groups of Eight, where eight people put their attention on one member of the group at a time. The miracles that these group intentions are creating for individuals are far beyond what they could generate themselves, including healings, loved ones being reunited, monetary windfalls, houses selling in twenty-four hours that had been on the market for years, lost pets showing up, and more.

So if this is all true, wouldn’t it be fantastic to have people around you who genuinely desire success, happiness, and miracles for you? Or better yet, why not get a group of friends who all agree to intention the fulfillment of each other’s goals and desires?

Put together your own group of eight or six or four, and see what magic you can create.

This just could be your ticket to the miraculous 2014 that is your heart’s deepest desire. I’m sending my intention your way for that!
