Wanting to create more confidence has been a common theme lately in sessions. Clients often want to share and figure out where their confidence began to erode. One of my favorite parts of sessions is to find where the habit or pattern began, and then be able to put finger on where THEY ARE CURRENTLY DOING THE SAME THING in their lives to themselves. When we can put a finger on this important point, immediate healing will begin because we are able to take responsibility for ourselves.

We experience so many things when we are growing up that, obviously, impact us greatly. These moments continue to negatively impact us, over and over again, if we keep giving them energy by putting blame on them — or continue performing the exact habit in our own lives.

In other words, we act in ways that are often exactly the same as that which created the pain and issue within us in the first place.

I have found that, often times, healing is much more simple than one would think. Easier, that is, if one is willing to take responsibility and make small changes within themselves consistently over time. Acceptance is a large factor in healing. Experiences happen to us. The depth of impact that experiences have on us depends on the meaning we choose to give these experiences. We can’t change our past BUT we can make sure we aren’t re-creating the past over and over on a daily basis.

When clients come to me wanting more self-confidence, I urge them to fully commit to looking at how simple it can be to create.

We must commit to creating self-confidence, not waiting for it to happen. @intuitionheals

Starting off the morning with a simple affirmation is a great way to remind one of the commitment they have made. I love this affirmation for self esteem, “I commit to supporting and strengthening myself and others today.”

Every thought and action that we focus on is a seed planted inside of ourselves. Once we are clear about our intention to build our self esteem and plant positive seeds in that direction, our intentions are bound to happen over time. Like a garden, if we clear out the rocks and prepare the soil, plant healthy seeds, and take time to nourish and love what we have planted, fruits will appear in time. Affirmations are little seeds that get planted inside of our minds and hearts, and in time will grow into beautiful gardens.

Once we have acknowledged our commitment to ourselves in the morning, there are a few things we can be aware of and actively practice that will support building our self esteem.

1. We can work on how often we criticize ourselves and others. When we notice that we begin to become critical, we can take a breath and state our affirmation out loud. Awareness is often the most difficult part in changing our patterns! If we notice that we are criticizing, we need to remember to rejoice and be happy that we are aware! That is at least half of the challenge!

2. We can choose to be gentle with ourselves and stop doubting ourselves. Our instinct and intuition will never steer us wrong. We must give ourselves permission to trust our gut. When we have the courage to live our lives from the inside out, our lives have a way of magically transforming into something very powerful and empowering.

3. We can choose to become aware of when we are putting others needs before our own. Doing this becomes unhealthy when we find ourselves becoming resentful that we have said yes when we didn’t have the courage to say no. Creating healthy boundaries and saying no builds healthy self esteem.

4. We can choose to stop gossiping about others. When we feel the need to belittle and talk about one another, we can take a deep breath and say something positive about whomever we were going to communicate negatively about. Gossiping has an immediate negative impact on how we will feel about ourselves and others. If we can’t say something kind… it is better that we say nothing at all.

5. We can choose to spend time with people that feel supportive and loving to us. As we have the courage to create distance in relationships that don’t feel healthy and supportive to our Spirits, we can remind ourselves that when one door closes, many positive doors will begin to open. As we choose to spend time around many loving, kind, and supportive people, we will notice we begin to feel better about ourselves.

It is helpful to remember that everything we do in our lives and focus on is a choice. We can choose to react differently at any moment. The power lies within what we are truly committed to. Just the few ideas above can create a tremendous positive support in helping build our self esteem. Let’s commit to building ourselves up… not tearing ourselves down. I know it seems simple… because it is.

You are perfect just the way you are. Take a deep breath and allow yourself to relax. State out loud for your Heart and Spirit to hear, “I commit to supporting and strengthening myself and others today.”
