Rise and shine! I’m thinking it may be time to wake up to a new reality—unless you’re living a super cool life and you’re happy the way things are.

So are you thinking, Hey, I wake up to a new reality every morning…?

Well, in a way that’s kind of true. But you know, it really goes deeper than that. Unless you are conscious of your thoughts, you’re living on autopilot or potentially with a pre programmed thought process that may be limiting your true potential. You’re most likely being reactive instead of proactive.

You, me—ALL of us—actually have the opportunity to wake up to a new reality with every conscious thought, ‘cause our thoughts create our reality. Being conscious of our thoughts, means being aware of them. And if we don’t like what our thoughts are creating or the feeling we are having (disappointment, frustration, irritation, malaise, depression) all we need to do is change them and a new reality will unfold.

It’s a simple process. Easy to do? Not always. But if you’re open to doing what it takes to have what you want, it will be yours.

I know first hand because I do this every single day. I am not willing to allow unconscious thoughts or patterns to direct my life. I create my life consciously by paying attention to how I am mapping it out with my mind.

Let me tell you about something happened recently.

Earlier this month I went to Africa—and while I was there, I went on safari. OMG! What beautiful scenery; an amazing experience. Except for one thing (which may not be important to you but we all have our own thoughts, remember?)

Crappy Internet. Yep. Really crappy. Almost nonexistent.

Oh, I was able to get online once in awhile, but when I did, the Internet was s-s-s-l-o-w and sporadic. Now that might be no big deal for some peeps, but I had kids back home AND my business is about 100% online and for me it felt HUGE.

My first thoughts were:

Geez… This is a friggin’ mess. (Panic) There goes my daily face time with my eight-year-old, Madeline.

I am not going to be able to connect with my admin team and my business will totally fall apart.

My book is launching soon and the publisher is expecting to hear from me. They might think I’m flaky if they can’t get answers when they need them. Or worse, drop me.

Now, the Internet in Africa was out of my control and so were all of my concerns. We agree about that, right? So how could I create a new reality and what difference would it make anyway? Thoughts wouldn’t change my circumstances.

True, but my thoughts COULD change the way I experienced my trip and even how I viewed things I couldn’t change. By shifting the way I thought about what having crappy Internet meant, my situation wouldn’t drive me cray cray.

My new thoughts were:

So I can’t Facetime with Madeline—what a great opportunity for independence and to learn that she is okay whether we connect every day or not.

My team is competent. We prepared in advance and I can trust them to handle things while I’m gone.

Crappy Internet is a good excuse to be off the grid for a few days.

Can you see the difference in these thoughts? I shifted immediately. Choosing these thoughts resulted in less stress and more peace. I was able to enjoy my trip without constantly checking my phone or feeling guilty if I chose not to. In fact … drumroll … I’m thinking about keeping my phone on airplane mode at home more often!! Kidding, not kidding!!

It’s super sad to me that some people go through life never realizing they can wake up to a whole new reality just by changing their approach, and that begins with their thoughts.

Guess what? You can choose to shift right now. And you don’t have to make changes all at once. Start by simply taking a look at your life.

1) What thoughts brought you to where you are right now?

2) Are there thoughts that no longer serve you?

3) What new thoughts can you replace them with?

Well, what do you THINK? Is it time to wake up to a new reality?
