What’s the secret to success? Here it is, profoundly simple:

Do what you say you’re going to do.

I’ll repeat it: Do what you say you’re going to do.

NO: rounding up what you say, no blowing it off, assuming that they’ll forget what you said. Aim for impeccable. You may miss the target, but you’ll be in your zone of integrity.

Mean it.

Of course you can’t always do what you said you would. Minds change and some prerogatives need their exercise. When you can’t or choose not to honor your word, then just say so—quickly, with sincerity and care.

Words are arrows. Take aim.
