In our fast-paced, busy lives, we are checking our iPhones constantly. We have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and emails.

We are being bombarded with so many things all the time that we often get so distracted that we forget to take time for ourselves. People have become robot-like.

Who can blame them? They have things to pay for, families to support, things must get done, and that takes a lot of time. People are busy. But what is the point of chasing all of it and losing your peace, losing your connection to yourself, losing your connection to your soul? What’s the point of having the house and the car and the job if you are not enjoying the things that really matter, like time with yourself and time with those you love?

In my opinion, there is no point.

We know one thing for sure: We are born, and we die. That’s it. Everything else is up in the air. Scary, but true.

The sooner we accept that reality, the sooner we can really accept that we should create a life that is worth living. The process of achieving the goal is just as important as arriving at the goal. I’m not saying it isn’t a challenge. It is.

Try having a three-month old baby, working full time, and trying to take a yoga class…not easy.

Try being broke and working your ass off to pay the bills and trying to take ten minutes to meditate.

It’s very difficult for us to truly believe and buy into the idea that self-care is a priority. Your emotional health, the health of your soul, and your overall happiness is dependent on your ability to create sacred soul space. Which means, in non-hippy language, take time for you! Take quiet time for you to hear your thoughts, to hear how you are really feeling, and to nurture yourself.

Stress is the leading factor in chronic disease. Stress is real and powerful, and pushing and pushing and pushing more leads to more stress, a less fulfilling life, and less fulfilling relationships.

We must begin to switch our priorities around so that we can enjoy life as it should be enjoyed.

Trust that taking that soul time is going to give you more energy, which will allow you to get more done and get it done with more grace and joy. It will allow you more patience and love around your children and husband/wife and friends. Taking that time out needs to be as important as showering or eating.

Now for your soul challenge…

Dedicate two minutes every morning this week just to sit. Close your eyes and breathe. Breathe deeply in and breathe deeply out. Ask yourself how you are feeling, listen and be there for yourself for that moment.

Love yourself up. Imagine white light showering your body and insides with love and peace. Breathe in that white light and exhale it. Do it while you’re in the shower or while you pee or poop. I don’t care. Just do it. I challenge you.

This week, it’s on for you and your soul. Let me know what that feels like. And remember, soul time is a priority and will allow you more benefits to your health, energy, happiness, and relationships than you can imagine. So get on it.

I look forward to hearing your stories on this challenge!
