I work from home, on the phone all day, all night. Most of the time when I go out, it’s to run errands, pick up my daughter from school, go to a yoga class, grocery shop. I don’t need to get dressed up for any of it, and I don’t want to for yoga (who wants to have mascara running down her face). So, I got myself into a rut where I just wasn’t putting much effort into how I was presenting myself to the world. I would wake up, and within a half hour be non stop answering emails and voicemails. I would put my hair up in a ponytail, throw on a pair of yoga pants and a t-shirt and that is my wardrobe for the day. What did I have to dress up for?

Until I caught a glimpse of myself in a freezer door at the grocery store one day. OMG, how did I leave the house looking like this?! My hair is a mess, no makeup on, my shirt doesn’t even match my yoga pants. This is NOT how I want people to see me! What do they think of me?! How could they take me seriously as a business owner if I’m running around looking like this?!

So… I made a decision. I’m going to be worth getting dressed up for.

I don’t need a date night or a client meeting, some excuse to get dolled up. I have a closet full of beautiful clothes that make me look and feel beautiful in them. I’m going to do my hair, my makeup. I’m going to get dressed up – for the grocery store, for Madeline’s Kindergarten class.

So, I did that, and it made me feel SO GOOD. A couple of days later, with my cute dress and sandals on, to go to the Fedex Office to pick up some things I had printed, I got noticed. People smiled at me. I DID catch myself with a little bounce in my step. I looked great and because of it, I felt great.

You are worth getting yourself dressed up for. @hayleyhobson (Click to Tweet!)

Who cares where you’re going, what you’re doing?! Show the world how great you are on the inside. Don’t hide it under yoga pants and ponytails.
