It’s cool these days to walk around with colorful hair. As more and more people awaken to living the good life, I feel safe, happy and wildly zesty at times. Permission to be yourself? Yes, please! Contrary to popular opinion though, I decided to color my hair for different reasons than keeping up with the culture. I’ve always been highly sensitive to color energy. In fact, it’s what I do every day.

I wear color.

I eat color.

I breathe color.

Color is my life force and to have the rest of the world in-sync with this truth that color matters is pretty damn sexy! Liberating. Captivating. Riveting.

For me color is sacred. It gives me the permission to show the world who I am. No matter the shade or brightness, all color is beautiful. Even the swampiest, gravel-grayish and darkest you can find. Color speaks to our soul. It allows us to express authentically who we are, what we came here for and how to get back home. Of course you can borrow my ruby slippers!

I stepped into accepting my self-worth a lot this year by dying my hair purple. This colorful defiance from the norm put me ahead in feeling miles closer to who I really am. Going purple was an act of reclaiming my power. I suffered great losses like my grandmother passing on Christmas Eve, business plummeting and my dream of relocating halted. Life eclipses happen regularly in my world and I’ve learned to accept change in any capacity. Even the ones where my heart feels shredded and spirit bruised from ex-lovers that refused to respect my spirituality. Yeah, I’ve been through alot and felt deeply all the emotions served in this experience we call – human.

Some people like their tattoos to be soul-inspired. Some choose sports teams. Movie stars. Books. Musicians. All of which are extended flavors of who we aspire to be, how we want to feel, and where we want to go in life.

We all choose energy to align with who we are.

It’s like this one time, I was shopping with my mom at the mall. She began browsing purses. And I told her, “Look, before you flip over another price tag, you gotta choose a purse that feels like you.” She turned her head and I could see the light in her face. Permission to let her hair down and honor herself. Same wave of light hit me in the face when I spun around in my salon chair to find a wholesome soul staring back at me. Tendrils of lilac danced around my face. I felt the deep undertones of amethyst harmonizing my aura. My heart grew ten times that day as I witnessed true transformation. Self-love is real.

From that point on, I knew that it’s my calling to choose resonance over maintenance. No more what would he do. She do. They do.

What would my highest most beautiful self choose?

So you don’t have to go out and color your hair, if you don’t want to, but I am grateful I did because every day I am reminded of the person I wish to be. A magician of my own accord carrying this rainbow torch to remind you that your choice in everything even hair color matters.

When color doesn’t choose you, you choose color. @thecolormage (Click to Tweet!)
