“It doesn’t mean what you think it does.”

I say that to myself … all … the … TIME.

So…

What does it really mean?

Hmmm…

A silent way of reminding myself people have their own sh&! going on I don’t know about and it’s affecting our communication.

Let’s talk about triggers …

When was the last time you were triggered? How did you respond? What if you just took a moment to step out of your own brain and simmered down? Wouldn’t it lead to a more positive, productive and happier life?

It’s easy to become offended, defensive, angry, bitter and stuck

But what if you paused for a moment to ask…

What does it even mean?

The keys to having a more positive, productive and happy life are as simple as that one little phrase.

There’s definitely power in misinterpretation…

What someone said, (input) then your interpretation (output) can become completely misconstrued due to outside circumstances. Combine the two together and they equal MESS.

“I’m sorry for what I said when I was hangry”…

Circumstances can cloud your communication.

I know… it’s a weird concept.

Journey with me…

Did you really have a hissy fit in Starbucks this morning because your latte didn’t have enough froth?

Or was the root of the fit your bratty kid and lazy husband?

Going deeper…did you get passed up for the promotion and you should be sitting in the corner office, but instead you’re getting coffee for the inexperienced jerk who got the job.

Stress…
Heartbreak…
Disappointment…SUCK

When you stuff and stuff and keep stuffing…you become a ticking time bomb!

Uncovering the root opens the door to meaningful and purposeful communication. If you have free waves of communication you’ll stop snapping at the barista.

Why is communication so important?

Because through clarity we can view a path to success. Without effective communication what you’re seeing and feeling, is like running through the woods blindfolded….#food4thought

Don’t get me wrong…
Don’t go running back to Starbucks spilling your sob story to the barista…
You’ll look crazy…
Truth: the barista wasn’t trying to ruin your day with a frothless latte…

Remember to…
Consider the source…
Take a moment to process…

Ask yourself “What does it really mean?”
