Since this is the season to share love, light and peace

In this final month of 2020, we could all use a little inspiration.

I have received so much inner peace and love by practicing A Course in Miracles*.

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) says, “…that the advanced teachers of God have the following characteristics”: (ACIM, M-4.2:2)

  1. Trust
  2. Honesty
  3. Tolerance
  4. Gentleness
  5. Joy
  6. Defenselessness
  7. Generosity
  8. Patience
  9. Faithfulness
  10. Open-Mindedness

Whether or not you are familiar with A Course in Miracles, we can all recognize these characteristics and reflect on what they mean to us.

Characteristic 5 is Joy. The feeling of JOY brings pleasure and happiness to so many of us.

And one vehicle that delivers joy and pleasure is music.

Music is a beautiful gift that allows us to have a direct experience with our soul, our true self. Hearing a melody can bring us to a place of joy rather quickly.

“Listen and see if you remember an ancient song you knew so long ago and held more dear than any melody you taught yourself to cherish since.” (ACIM T-21.I.7:5)

Please share a time when music has lifted you up to a JOYOUS place in the comments below. And, on December 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. PST, please join the Foundation for Inner Peace in a celebration of joy through music.

* A Course in Miracles – often abbreviated ACIM or simply called the Course – is a complete self-study spiritual thought system. As a three-volume curriculum consisting of a Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers, it teaches that the way to universal love and peace—or remembering God—is by undoing guilt through forgiving others. The Course thus focuses on the healing of relationships and making them holy. A Course in Miracles also emphasizes that it is but one version of the universal curriculum, of which there are “many thousands.” Consequently, even though the language of the Course is that of traditional Christianity, it expresses a non-sectarian, non-denominational spirituality. A Course in Miracles, therefore, is a universal spiritual teaching, not a religion.
